Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information
Frederick Sellers was appointed the Assistant Director of the Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information in August 2017. In this positon, Mr. Sellers has direct oversight of the agency’s Protective Intelligence Division, National Threat Assessment Center, Social Media Threat Platform, Targeted Violence Prevention, Suicide Bomber Interdiction, Protective Intelligence Operational Center, and Counter Surveillance activities.
As a 30 plus year veteran of the Secret Service, Mr. Sellers’s career has equally focused on both the protective and investigative missions of the agency. Prior to his appointment as the Assistant Director, he served as the Deputy Assistant Director for the Office of Training where he had oversight of the James J. Rowley Training Center which encompasses 500 acres, 39 multi-purpose buildings and firearms ranges, and ensured that the approximately 7,350 employees were prepared for operational readiness where he had oversight of Initial/Basic Training, Proficiency Training, Progressive Training and Soft Skills / Leadership Development Training along with Human Resources Training.
Mr. Sellers began his career with the Secret Service as a Uniformed Division Officer in March of 1988. In August of 1990, he was appointed to the Special Agent position. During his tenure, Mr. Sellers has played an executive protection role with Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush, William Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and currently President Donald J. Trump. Mr. Sellers also served as the Acting Assistant Director and the Chief Human Capital Officer for the Office of Human Resources; as well as the Deputy Assistant Director in the Office of Investigations, overseeing the operational investigative divisions that included oversight of all forensics, asset forfeiture, analytic/research specialists, commercial database management, criminal investigations, and the staffing and logistics of the 2,500 special agents and 800 Administrative, Professional and Technical personnel in the domestic and international field offices. He further managed the budget ($67M), and the Special Projects & Policy Sections where he implemented comprehensive performance measurements. Mr. Sellers actively managed programs and personnel that furthered the Department of Homeland Security’s investigative and cyber infrastructure protection missions. Subsequently, Mr. Sellers had daily responsibility for the formulation and execution of cyber security incident response for the Secret Service and played a major role with ensuring the United States had the capabilities to protect the American financial economy.
Mr. Sellers holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina. In June of 2013, Mr. Sellers graduated from the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative (NPLI) at the Harvard School of Public Health. Mr. Sellers currently serves as an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and was a 2014 and 2016 Senior Executive Service honoree of the USBE Information Technology Magazine.
