Technical law enforcement training

Training

The work of a Technical Law Enforcement (TLE) employee may require long and irregular hours including holidays, weekends and evenings, shift work, considerable physical exertion such as lifting heavy objects, crouching and crawling under or in automobiles, self-protection in harm’s way and defending internal and external stakeholders against physical harm and/or attack(s).

To become a Technical Law Enforcement employee, the candidate must:

  • Complete 13 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM. Failure to pass either of the training programs on the first attempt may result in separation from the U. S. Secret Service.
  • Successfully complete a 10-week Mixed Basic Training Course at the Secret Service's training facility in Laurel, MD.
