Thomas F. Huse,
Chief Counsel
In January 2020, Thomas F. Huse became the agency’s Chief Counsel. As Chief Counsel, he is the Secret Service’s primary legal advisor.
Mr. Huse manages a team of attorneys that handle a wide range of legal issues. His office provides legal counsel to Secret Service leadership, defends the agency in litigation proceedings, and advises agency personnel on operational, employment, and business matters.
Mr. Huse joined the Secret Service in 2009. Since then, he has worked as an attorney in the agency’s Criminal Investigative Division, Asset Forfeiture Branch, and training facility. Mr. Huse also served as the Acting Deputy Assistant Director for the Office of Professional Responsibility.
Before joining the Secret Service, Mr. Huse was a litigator in private practice, in the Maryland Attorney General’s Office, and in an insurance company that defended local governments. He also served as a county prosecutor and clerked for a Maryland Circuit Court judge.
Mr. Huse earned his undergraduate degree from Wayne State University and his law degree from the Catholic University of America.
