(Norfolk, VA) – A United States Secret Service investigation resulted in a lengthy prison sentence
for a former accounting manager who embezzled over $255,000.
Lindsay Kneff of Virginia Beach pleaded guilty on January 17, 2017 to wire fraud. Kneff was
employed with the Virginia Beach office of Rose and Womble Realty. She was entrusted with a
management position responsible for overseeing the processing of commissions and accounts
payable when she derived and perpetrated her fraudulent scheme.
“The Secret Service continues to seek new and innovative ways to combat fraudulent schemes,”
said George Purefoy, Resident Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service Norfolk Office. “Our
success in this case exemplifies the cooperation between law enforcement agencies that allows
the Secret Service to focus our resources and respond quickly to uncover this type of fraudulent
criminal activity.”
Kneff was sentenced today to 37 months in prison and was ordered to pay $255,147.20 in
restitution.
