(Washington, D.C.) - United States Secret Service Director Joseph P. Clancy has announced the appointment of Susan A. Yarwood to the position of Chief Human Capital Officer, effective December 11, 2016.
Yarwood possesses more than 30 years of Human Resources experience serving as a civilian in the U.S. Navy and the Office of Personnel Management. In 1993, she joined the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), a field agency responsible for providing operational support to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Defense Agencies and Field Activities, the White House and select congressional committees. She was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in May, 2006.
Immediately prior to joining the Secret Service, she served as the Deputy Director of Washington Headquarters Services.
“Susan is a proven leader who will bring expansive Human Resources knowledge and broad management experience to the Secret Service,” said Director Clancy.
Yarwood will serve as the principal administrator responsible for leading the Office of Human Resources, providing oversight of its divisions’ recruitment, hiring, retention and employee development functions, guiding the creation and implementation of human capital initiatives and overseeing the functions of the USSS Security Office.
