Secret Service Field Office and Personnel Presented With Keys to the City of Cleveland

Cleveland, OH) – On September 8, 2016, the Secret Service Cleveland Field Office and two Special Agents were honored by Mayor Frank Jackson and the City of Cleveland during a proclamation ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio. The Secret Service was recognized for coordinating security efforts for the Republican National Convention which was hosted by the City of Cleveland.

Special Agent in Charge Ronald Rowe, Secret Service Republican National Convention Coordinator; Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge Timothy Lea, Secret Service Republican National Convention Deputy Coordinator; and the United States Secret Service Cleveland Field Office were presented with Keys to the City of Cleveland. Special Agent in Charge Craig Wisniewsky, Cleveland Field Office, accepted the key on behalf of his office.

“The entire Cleveland Field Office is honored to have received this level of recognition and honored to have worked alongside the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and the State of Ohio in preparation and execution of the security plan for the RNC and we look forward to continued success in northeast Ohio,” said Wisniewski.

Mayor Frank Jackson of Cleveland issued the proclamation which read in part, “Whereas the knowledge, guidance, and expertise provided to the City of Cleveland by the Cleveland Field Office of the United States Secret Service led to the most successful Convention in recent years.”

The RNC, held in July 2016, was designated a National Security Special Event (NSSE) by the Department of Homeland Security. The Secret Service has the mandated role as the lead agency for the design and implementation of the operational security plan. The Secret Service has developed a core strategy to carry out its security operations, which relies heavily on its established partnerships with law enforcement and public safety officials at the local, state and federal levels. The goal of the cooperating agencies is to provide a safe and secure environment for Secret Service protectees, other dignitaries, the event participants and the general public.
