The U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) and Newark Field Office are hosting a seminar on preventing targeted school violence. This event will feature subject matter experts who will share the latest best practices for implementing behavioral threat assessment programs.

Enhancing School Safety Using Threat Assessment

NTAC will highlight the key findings and implications from our research on targeted school violence prevention. This presentation will discuss the background, thinking, and behaviors of students who attacked or plotted to attack their school. The presentation will also offer guidance and available resources on developing a behavior-based approach to targeted violence prevention in schools.

Implementing a Behavioral Threat Assessment Program in a K-12 School District

NTAC will describe the implementation of a behavioral threat assessment program in a school district, and share best practices and lessons learned during the process.

Integrating Behavioral Threat Assessment within Existing School-Based Systems of Support

NTAC will discuss enhancing behavioral threat assessment by aligning and integrating the process with other student support programs.
