(Washington, D.C.) –  Today the U.S. Secret Service announced the conclusion of the 67th National Special Security Event, the 59th Presidential Inauguration, effective 12:00 p.m.

Securing the nation’s 59th Presidential Inauguration required an extraordinary level of coordination with partners at every level, working together to ensure the peaceful transition of power that is a hallmark of our democracy. Specifically, our efforts were strengthened and enhanced by effective partnership with colleagues at the FBI, FEMA and the D.C. Metro Police Department, as well as the United States Park Police, United States Capitol Police, the Department of Defense and many others at the federal, state and local level.

Beginning with Tuesday evening’s remembrance ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial, to the swearing-in at the Capitol and the parade escorting President Biden and Vice-President Harris to the White House, the Secret Service and our partners professionally and effectively carried out our operational security plan. We are confident in the security model developed and deployed for this and future National Special Security Events. It is a tried and true process that brings together the resources required to ensure these national-level events and their participants – from national leadership to the general public – are kept safe.
