Secret Service Director Announces New Leadership Appointments

(Washington, D.C.) - United States Secret Service Director Joseph P. Clancy has announced the appointment of eight veteran agents to the position of Special Agent in Charge of local Secret Service Field Offices in Birmingham, Boston, Buffalo, Dallas, Louisville, Newark, Oklahoma City, and Tampa.

“Throughout their careers, these individuals have developed the reputation of being leaders of great character who are well respected within the Secret Service and the greater law enforcement community,” said Clancy.

Michael A. Williams has been appointed Special Agent in Charge of the Birmingham Field Office. He has executive oversight for the State of Alabama and the State of Mississippi. He was promoted into the Senior Executive Service in Washington, DC where he served as the Special Agent in Charge of the Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division. Previous posts also include the position of Deputy Assistant Director, Office of Protective Operations.

Stephen A. Marks has been appointed Special Agent in Charge of the Boston Field Office. He has executive oversight for the five state New England Region. His most recent position was Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Boston Field Office.

Lewis R. Robinson has been appointed Special Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Field Office. He has over 26 years of law enforcement experience and most recently served as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Criminal Investigative Division.

William Noonan has been appointed Special Agent in Charge of the Dallas Field Office. He will lead all Secret Service activities within the North Texas District. He previously served as the Deputy Special Agent in Charge of the Criminal Investigative Division.

Richard F. Ferretti has been appointed Special Agent in Charge of the Louisville Field Office. He is a Kentucky native with 27 years of experience in the Secret Service. He most recently served as the Resident Agent in Charge of the Albuquerque Resident Office.

Mark McKevitt has been appointed Special Agent in Charge of the Newark Field Office. With this appointment he returns to lead the office where his career began in 1997. He has been
certified within the Senior Executive Service and most recently served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Houston Field Office.

Kenneth Valentine has been appointed Special Agent in Charge of the Oklahoma City Field Office. His career spans more than 20 years with the Secret Service, with positions on the Presidential Protective Division and the Senate Judiciary Committee as counsel to Senator Orrin Hatch. His most recent position was Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia Field Office.

Billy Joe Powers has been appointed Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa Field Office. Throughout his 20 year career with the Secret Service he has distinguished himself serving in numerous leadership positions. He most recently served as an Inspector in the Office of Professional Responsibility, Inspection Division.

“The appointment of these proven leaders ensures that the Secret Service will continue to successfully accomplish our critical integrated mission of protection and investigations.” said Kenneth Jenkins, Assistant Director, Office of Investigations.
