The U.S. Secret Service tries to avoid standing out in a crowd. The new patrol vehicle unveiled this year by the agency’s uniformed division keeps this in mind.
On Inauguration Day, new black cruisers debuted in the President’s motorcade. The Secret Service’s marked police vehicles have been white since the mid-1990’s.

Assistant Chief Richard Macauley of the Secret Service’s Uniformed Division said the new color scheme fits more seamlessly into motorcade operations, matching the President’s black limousine and other black emergency vehicles.
Macauley said the redesign had been in the works since July, adding that every detail was carefully chosen to reflect strength and authority along with a modern and classy look.
In addition to the new design, the cruisers also come equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a feature that allows officers to synchronize their emergency lights, for enhanced public safety.
The new marked vehicles will be rolled out in a phased process over two years. When complete, an estimated 50 new black cruisers will be deployed.
Macauley said the new fleet speaks to the Secret Service’s commitment to continued improvement and believes the vehicles reflect the agency’s motto of being “worthy of trust and confidence.”
“We are the premier law enforcement agency in the world," he said.
